Hyderabad: Rebutting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s statement, the BJP on Wednesday asked him to name the "forces" trying to destabilise the polity and force early elections.
"The Prime Minister owed an explanation to the country and he should disclose who is trying to destabilise the government," senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here. He was speaking in the backdrop of the statement by Singh that certain "forces" are trying to destabilise the polity and a "restless Opposition" was attempting to force early elections.
"In order to divert attention of people from failures of the UPA government and massive scams, Manmohan Singh has levelled wild allegations as late PM Indira Gandhi who used to say that in every incident there was a foreign hand," Naidu alleged. After the recent leak of a finance ministry note on 2G spectrum allocation, Home Minister P Chidambaram has no moral right to continue in the government, the BJP leader said.
Replying to a query, Naidu said "the question is whether people have confidence in Chidambaram whose name was raked up in the 2G issue."
Discussing about the future strategy of his party, Naidu said the BJP would discuss various issues like present uncertainty prevailing in the country, Finance Ministry`s note on the 2G issue, recall of the Gujarat Governor and campaign against corruption launched by the party in its two-day National Executive meeting to be held from September 30 in Delhi.
The meeting would also finalise the proposed rathyatra of senior leader L K Advani, he added.
