Beijing: Pakistan will cooperate with China to defeat terrorism and secessionism, said Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
Zardari Tuesday reiterated Pakistan`s commitment to root out extremism and he assured China of his country`s cooperation in defeating terrorism and secessionism, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
The Pakistani president arrived in China Tuesday to attend the first China-Eurasia Expo to be held in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, from Sep 1 to 5.
He said Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and will spare no effort to root it out.
Zardari said his daughters were accompanying him on the visit, which is a proof of generation to generation ties between the two countries.
He also mentioned the forthcoming visit of Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to China later this week to attend the International Political Conference and said it shows Pakistan and China were looking to strengthen relations at political parties level.
Pakistan has been hit by a string of terror attacks, specially after the May 2 killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
China too saw terror attacks in July.
Two people hijacked a truck after killing its driver and drove it into a crowded street in Xinjiang Uygur region. They jumped out of the truck wielding knives and hacked stunned bystanders.
A day later July 31, a group of people set fire to a restaurant and randomly attacked civilians with knives in downtown Kashgar. Police opened fire and shot dead five suspects.
China has credited the act of terror to religious extremists of the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement" (ETIM) trained in Pakistan.
