Pawan Negi: Five things you ought to know about the cricketer
Negi is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and lower middle-order batsman.
New Delhi: As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka, all-rounder Pawan Negi's name emerged out as the only surprise inclusion.
The all-rounder got his maiden national call-up just ahead of the ICC World T20. It means the left-arm diminutive cricketer has a good chance to impress the national selectors before the cricket extravaganza, which is scheduled to take place in India between March-April.
Here are five interesting facts about the cricketer:
Pawan Negi represents Delhi in the first-class Ranji Trophy competition, and has also played List A and Twenty20 cricket for the state.
Negi is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and a lower middle-order batsman, who is known for his big hitting skills.
Negi started his Indian Premier League (IPL) career with Delhi Daredevils and he played for them in 2012 and 2013 seasons.
However, Negi later joined (now suspended) Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and played under the captaincy of India's limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni.
Like Dhoni, Negi's ancestors also belonged to Uttarakhand (Almora). However, his family presently resides at Sadiq Nagar, New Delhi.
