Patiala: Madhya Pradesh got three points by virtue of their slender first innings lead against hosts Punjab in a Ranji Trophy group league encounter, here on Sunday.

The match as a contest was tilted in MP's favour after they bowled out Punjab for 358 in response to their first innings score of 370 and then consolidated further to 81 for three at stumps.


Starting with an overall lead of 94 runs and seven wickets in hand, MP scored 314 for six on the final day when play was stopped.


Former India A player Jalaj Saxena (95) anchored the innings to perfection on the final day as the visitors hung to their 3 points.


Skipper Devendra Bundela (55 no) and Rameez Khan (54 no) added 112 runs for the seventh wicket to put the shutters down.
