Mumbai: On the eve of nationwide bandh against the hike in petrol prices, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil on Wednesday warned political parties from taking law into their hands.
"Observing bandh in a peaceful manner is everybody`s right. However, those who violate the law during bandh will be dealt with strictly", Patil told reporters at Mantralaya. The NDA has given the call for Bharat bandh tomorrow in protest against the steep hike of Rs 7.50 per litre in prices of petrol, and has sought immediate rollback of the raise.
While, Shiv Sena has extended its support to the bandh, its arch-rival Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has decided to stay away from joining the protests. The Republican Party of India (RPI) has also supported the bandh.
