New Delhi: Four sitting MLAs and Gopal Tandon, son of Lucknow MP, figure in BJP`s fourth list of 46 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections announced on Friday.
With this list BJP has so far declared a total of 347 candidates out of 403 assembly seats in the state and the remaining seats are likely to be declared over the weekend.
Among the prominent candidates declared for the ensuing assembly elections include Gopal Tandon from Lucknow North constituency. He is the son of veteran BJP leader and MP from Lucknow, Lalji Tandon, who represented the Lucknow West constituency before becoming an MP. Among other prominent names include sitting MLAs Suresh Shrivastav from Lucknow West, Vidhyasagar Gupta from Lucknow Central, Suresh Tiwari from Lucknow Cantt. and Jokhulal Yadav from Phulpur.
Singer Shyam Sunder Chouhan has also been given the party ticket from Didarganj, besides former MLAs Surendra Pratap Singh from Jaunpur and Shiv Tapasya Paswan from Chakia (SC) seat. Former member of the state Legislative Council Jai Prakash Chaturvedi is being fielded from Robertsganj.
The BJP Central Election Committee meeting chaired by party president Nitin Gadkari was also attended by senior party leaders L K Advani, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj, apart from other senior leaders. PTI
