Patna: Opposition RJD and Congress on Wednesday alleged that the Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police had killed an "innocent youth" suspecting him to be a naxalite and demanded that the state government order a probe into the issue. Raising the case of Ramdeo Paswan who alleged that the STF had killed his 20-year-old son Pancham on Friday night when he was returning to his Navadiha village in Gaya District, Leader of Opposition in the State assembly and RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui and state Youth Congress chief Lalan Kumar said "it is a case of brutal murder."
"The STF personnel killed him in an encounter suspecting him to be a naxalite," Siddiqui and Kumar said at separate press meets.
Siddiqui said the state government must order the Gaya police to register a case of murder against the policemen involved in the encounter.
He further claimed that there was no no record of Pancham being involved in any criminal case. The family members of the deceased also petitioned the BHRC for help. Siddiqui urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure a probe into the incident within a week.
Kumar demanded that the state government must order a thorough probe. Besides, the Bihar Human Rights Commission (BHRC) should also take up the case and order compensation.
