Nitish Kumar thanks voters for Daraunda bypoll win
Bihar CM thanked the people of Daraunda for reposing faith in ruling JD(U) in the bypoll.
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar
on Monday thanked the people of Daraunda for reposing faith in
ruling JD(U) in the bypoll to the seat.
JD(U) candidate Kavita Singh defeated her nearest RJD rival Parmeshwar Singh by 20,092 votes.
There were attempts to mislead the voters on many grounds, but the people have given a befitting reply, Kumar said.
RJD MP and secretary general Ramkripal Yadav said despite defeat its vote share had increased. Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser said he would review the reason for the defeat of its candidate Kalika Sharan Singh.
State Youth Congress chief Lallan Kumar remarked had the party accepted the suggestions of former MP Ranjit Ranjan, Congress would have fared well in the bypoll. The by-election was necessitated after the Daraunda Assembly seat fell vacant due to the death of sitting JD(U) MLA Jagmato Devi in June.
