ICC U-19 World Cup 2016: Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar slam fifties as India post 268 vs Ireland
Sarfaraz and Sundar added crucial 110-run stand for the fifth wicket to help India regain the momentum.
New Delhi: Timely half-centuries by Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar helped India put up a challenging total in their opening U-19 World Cup encounter against Ireland.
India got off to a poor start as they lost opener Ishan Kishan for a duck in the third ball of the match. After losing the skipper, Indian top-order collapsed and the team found itself wobbling at 55 for four in 17 overs.
However, Sarfaraz and Sundar added crucial 110-run stand for the fifth wicket to help India regain the momentum.
While Sarfaraz played a solid knock of 74 runs off 70 balls, laced with seven boundaries, Sundar too played sensibly as he scored 62 off 71 balls with the help of three boundaries.
Cameo of Zeeshan Ansari (36 off 36) made sure that Indians crossed the 250-run mark as they eventually set the target of 269 for Ireland to win the match.
Rory Anders was the pick among the Irish bowlers, who scalped three wickets in his ten overs and conceded mere 35 runs.
