Speaking to the Times of India, Cullinan termed Kohli as a traditional batsman and De Villiers a freak.

He stated that India's Test skipper had mastered the art of placing the ball and running, making him more effective than his peers.

The former middle-order batsman also criticized batsmen in the Proteas' camp for playing too many fancy strokes.

"With AB complaining of fatigue, who will be the one to watch out for in the World T20? There's no mental pressure in T20 cricket. The pressure doesn't make you mentally tired. But there's too much of nonsense in batting these days. I see it in our domestic cricket as well. That's why I like Virat's batting. He is normal and traditional. He has the art of placing the ball and running. You don't have to be over smart. Virat is more effective than those who play those paddle shots and switch hits. AB is a freak. He has control over them. But the rest (in the SA lineup) I don't think can last long," he told TOI.

The South African test team is on a downward spiral at the moment, having lost their top ranking after back-to-back series defeats against India and England.

The Indian side on the other hand has turned a corner in the T20Is after a drubbing in the ODIs.

Kohli has been a standout performer for the Men in Blue in 2016 so far.
