During the discussion, Viru happened to reveal a rather interesting fact that only few people close to the Team India dressing room knew until then, reports the Deccan Chronicle.

When asked about why the former pacer was named 'Gyan Baba' by Indian players, Zaheer said, “I can’t stop myself but going up to bowlers and always giving them advice, that’s how it came into existence I think.”

Viru couldn't help himself and immediately chipped in, “All credit goes to Zaheer and because of him I was able to score 8000 Test runs. End of the day he was the ‘Gyan Baba’, he was advising Ganguly also.”

It is a well-known fact that it was Zaheer who adviced Ganguly to give Sehwag a chance to open the innings. At the time, the Delhi batsmen was batting in India's middle-order.

Considering the impact Viru made batting at the top, one can certainly say that Zaheer deserves the name that was coined for him.
