Indian Super League, 4th semi-final: ATK vs Chennaiyin - Players to watch out for
Stiven Mendoza and Iain Hume could make the difference for their sides respectively.
New Delhi: Atletico de Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC will be engrossed in an exciting battle in match No. 60 on Wednesday in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2015, at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata.
ATK were thrashed by Chennaiyin in the first leg of the semis by a 0-3 margin and need four goals to qualify for the final. The chances look slim for Antonio Habas' side but it isn't impossible to do wonders.
ATK have lost their last two games and their defence have been vulnerable to the core after shipping in six goals in the process.
Chennaiyin were all over ATK in the first leg and registered five successive victories with that win.
Chennaiyin are in some good form and have won their last four games on the trot. In this process, they have also registered 12 goals.
Interestingly, ATK had beaten Chennaiyin both times this season in the league matches but when it matters most the latter has gained the onus.
The Eastern giants know they have a big task in hand to turn the tide in their favour. Whoever progresses will face FC Goa in the finale. The Gaurs beat Delhi Dynamos 3-0 in the 2nd leg at home to progress easily.
We look at players who could make a major impact in the game for both the teams.
Stiven Mendoza (Chennaiyin FC): Mendoza had put Chennai on a position of advantage during the league games and his importance was the key once again in the crucial first leg. The classy striker has scored a whooping 12 goals. Alongside Jeje, he has been involved in Chennaiyin's 11 goals in the last five games and their partnesrship could dictate the tie once again.
Iain Hume (Atletico de Kolkata): Iain Hume has grown as the season has progressed. The Canadian international has 10 goals and four assists to his name and will be a pivotal figure for the ATK side. Hume’s pace, aerial abilities and work ethic will be pivotal for ATK who need him to cater to their wishes on Wednesday. Hume didn't get much help in the last game and will hope different this time.
