After Sepp Blatter, UEFA president Michel Platini lodges appeal against 90-day FIFA suspension

New Delhi: UEFA president Michel Platini has lodged an appeal with international football body FIFA, against a 90-day suspension. This is two days after FIFA president Sepp Blatter's appeal.
The ban which will see Platini be an outcast from world football is thwarting his hopes of standing for the presidency for FIFA.
Earlier on Thursday, FIFA's ethics committee imposed the provisional ban after a payment the UEFA president received from the world body became embroiled in a Swiss criminal investigation.
Sepp Blatter, who was also suspended from his role as FIFA president, filed an appeal on Thursday. Blatter has led FIFA for 17 years.
According to a report in ESPN FC, UEFA confirmed on Saturday to The Associated Press that Platini has now also lodged his appeal. FIFA's appeal committee is chaired by Larry Mussenden of Bermuda.
