Islamabad: Pakistan has not shut border coordination centers, authorities said after NATO airstrikes close to the Afghanistan border left two dozen Pakistan Army soldiers dead.
Associated Press of Pakistan reported that the impression that border coordination centers were closed and Pakistan Army officers at those centers were recalled was incorrect.
A statement from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said few officers were called only for consultations and had now gone back to the border coordination centers. The Nov 26 airstrikes on two Pakistani Army checkposts in Mohmand Agency killed two dozen soldiers, sparking outrage in Pakistan. Islamabad promptly barred the passage of NATO supplies through the country and decided to boycott the Bonn conference that would discuss the future course of action in Afghanistan. US officials have reportedly said their Pakistani counterparts at a border coordination center gave the NATO forces the nod for the airstrikes.
