According to a report on the Manchester Evening News website, the Portuguese confirmed this in an interview with BT Sport - due to be shown this week.

Mourinho hasn't been employed since December after he was sacked by the defending Premier League champions.

The 53-year-old has been heavily linked to a move to Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal's replacement.

The Dutchman has failed to make an impact in Manchester and is expected to be shown the door in the summer.

It was earlier reported that Ed Woodward had been in touch with Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate his move to United.
