CoochBehar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit Cooch Behar on July 11 according to TMC sources.
On that day she will lay the foundation of the proposed university, inaugurate the newly built Panchayat Training Centre and announce a bunch of developmental projects, president of TMC CoocBehar unit and MLA Rabindra Nath Ghosh said here today. The Manishi Panchanan Barma University Organising Committee staged a day-long sit-in at Mathabhanga.
They also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Mathabhanga SDO.
Their main demand is establishing the university at Khalisamari, the sacred birth place of Thakur Panchanan Barma, the great social reformer of this region. The secretary of the organisation and also vice-president of district TMC, Girindra Nath Barman said they will start an indefinite hunger strike at Mathabhanga a day before the CM’s visit to Cooch Behar.
