Alagiri trust college moves contempt petition
An engineering college, set up by a trust in which Union minister and senior DMK leader MK Alagiri is a member, has moved a contempt petition.
Madurai: An engineering college, set up by a
trust in which Union minister and senior DMK leader MK
Alagiri is a member, has moved a contempt petition against the
Registrar of Anna University of Technology-Madurai for not
considering the plea for grant of affiliation to the college
despite a High Court order last month.
M Pandikumar, the Principal of Dhaya College of
Engineering, submitted in an affidavit that the university was
directed, by an order by the Madurai Bench of the High Court
on Oct 21, to consider the plea for affiliation within 10
days.
The time stipulated expired as early as Nov 1. But the university had not taken any decision; he said and sought to punish the Registrar, EB Perumal Pillai, for "wilful disobedience" of the court order. PTI
