Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government`s various departments owe over Rs 900 crore in arrears to the Power Development Department (PDD) of the state. In a written reply to a question by Yashpal Kundal of JKNPP in Legislative Assembly on Friday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also power minister of the state, said that Rs 900.49 crore arrears are recoverable from the government departments as on March 2011. The arrear position as on March 2010 was Rs 783.59 crores, he said. There is also pending of power arrears against several ministers, Minister of States, MLAs, MLCs, bureaucrats and political leaders in the state.

Regarding restructured accelerated power development reforms programme meant to reduce transmission and distribution losses has been launched in 30 towns and cities of the state, he said.

In this direction, Rs 151.99 crore has been sanctioned in first phase and Rs 1665.27 crore has been sanctioned under phase second of R-APDRP, he said.
