Real Sociedad coach David Moyes under pressure after Las Palmas defeat
David Moyes` Real Sociedad future is hanging by a thread following a 0-2 defeat to Las Palmas in La Liga.
Madrid: David Moyes' future as Real Sociedad head coach is hanging by a thread following his side's 0-2 defeat to Las Palmas in La Liga.
The Friday night defeat against a side which had only managed six points from 10 games leaves Moyes' side with nine points from 11 matches this football season and if results go against them over the weekend the side from San Sebastian could drop into the relegation zone, reports Xinhua.
Not only did the Basque outfit lose, it was the manner of their defeat with a string of unforced errors with the ball that was worrying.
It has escaped nobody's attention that the total of nine points from 11 games is the same that former Real Sociedad coach Jagoba Arrasate had seen his side collect before he was sacked by the club a year ago to be replaced by the former Manchester United and Everton tactician.
With a home match against Sevilla and a trip to Barcelona next on the agenda for Real Sociedad following the international break, it is hard to see where their next points are going to come from.
Moyes' side has won only two matches all season, away against Granada and Levante and is yet to win a game in front of their fans at the Anoeta Stadium, where they lost 2-3 to Celta Vigo a week ago.
Speaking after Friday's defeat, Moyes admitted his situation was far from comfortable.
"When you are a coach and your side loses, then you worry about your job. But I think I am in condition to stay until the end of the season," he said late on Friday night.
"We needed to win and I am worried, but it is a long season and I have faith in my players. They know that they have my support, but they have to show their quality. I have been in this sort of situation before and we all have to do better. It is a question for all of us," he said.
