Patna: Cold wave is likely to grip parts of Bihar in the next couple of days with the minimum temperature dipping at various places.
According to MeT sources, there is a danger of cold wave at isolated places in Bihar and Jhakhand on Sunday and the day after due to northerly winds blowing from the Himalayan region.
Gaya was the coldest district in the state yesterday at 5.2 deg C. It rose to 6.9 deg C on Saturday. Patna recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 deg C, Bhagalpur at 10.6 deg C and Purnia 10.8 deg C, they said.
Cold and foggy conditions will prevail in Patna during the next 24 hours, MeT office director Animesh Chanda said.
Several trains were either cancelled or rescheduled due to foggy conditions. Train drivers have been asked by Railway authorities to maintain maximum precautions, official sources said. Deputy Chief Minister SK Modi said the authorities have been asked to make all arrangements, including distribution of blankets among the poor.
