Ronaldinho set for brief Fluminense return
Ronaldinho is set to represent Fluminense during an exhibition tournament in January despite rescinding his contract with the Brazilian club last week.
Rio De Janeiro: Ronaldinho is set to represent Fluminense during an exhibition tournament in January despite rescinding his contract with the Brazilian club last week.
The 35-year-old's brother and agent Roberto Assis said Ronaldinho intended to honour a commitment made when joining Fluminense in July, Xinhua news agency reported.
"It's highly probable that Ronaldinho will play in the Florida Cup for Fluminense," Assis told Brazilian news portal Lancenet on Saturday.
"The club has invited him and he has accepted. The relationship with Ronaldinho continues. But his participation depends on an agreement with a new club."
Ronaldinho left Fluminense by mutual consent last week after failing to score or provide an assist in nine matches for the club.
He was booed by his own fans during the team's 2-1 home loss to Atletico Mineiro in August.
Fluminense will be among eight teams to compete in the Florida Cup along with Internacional, Atletico Mineiro, Corinthians, Schalke 04, Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk and Santa Fe (Colombia).
