Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi welcomed Rahul Gandhi`s decision to play a larger role in the Congress and the government saying the country wants a youth leader who can take forward the traditions of the party.
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday welcomed Rahul Gandhi`s decision to play a larger role in the Congress and the government saying the country wants a youth leader who can take forward the traditions of the party.
"It is an appropriate time for Rahul Gandhi to take more responsibility. This will strengthen the party and the country. I am very happy at his decision and extend my best wishes," Gogoi said here.
"Besides, there are a number of renowned and veteran leaders in the Congress. Their experience and help are also assured for Rahul Gandhi," he said and invited Rahul to visit Assam. Noting that the country was looking at youth leaders like Rahul to shoulder more responsibility, he said, "We want a strong youth leader. The country also wants a strong youth leader. We want a youth leader who can take forward the traditions of the Congress party." He also said Rahul`s decision will attract more youths to the party.
