Hyderabad: A local court on Monday issued on-bailable warrant against Andhra Pradesh Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathy in a case of alleged violation of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA).
The Special court for Economic Offences here issued the warrant, following a complaint by Enforcement Directorate (ED) about his non-cooperation with the probe.
ED registered a case against Parthasarthy in 1999 for violation of FERA, when he was the Managing Director of Hyderabad-based KPR Tele Products Limited. According to ED, Parthasarathy had failed to pay duty on import of machinery for the firm.
After the probe, ED imposed a penalty of Rs 3 lakh, which was not paid by Parthasarathy. The agency, in its complaint before the court, also said that Parthasarathy did not cooperate with it.
Following this, the court today issued the NBW, ED officials said. PTI
