Dusseldorf: Rookie Aditi Ashok made a modest start to her campaign at the ISPA Handa Ladies European Masters in Germany with a one-over 73 on the first day.

The 18-year-old Aditi, who represented India at the recent Rio Olympic Games, had two birdies and three bogeys in her round. She was tied 42nd but a good number of golfers were yet to finish their round at the Golf Club, Hubberlath.


Aditi had an early tee time began at the first bogeyed the par-3 second. But she bounced back with back-to-back birdies on par-5 third and par-4 fourth to get into red numbers.


She was one-under at the turn but bogeys on par-4 10th and par-4 14th saw her drop to one-over and finish the day at 73. Aditi represented India in the women's Olympic golf competition in Rio, contending at halfway after an opening pair of 68s and ultimately finished 41st as the youngest player in the field.


American Katie Burnett, who had four birdies in last six holes, was the leader at six-under 66, while Korean In-Kyung Kim (67) was second.
