New Delhi: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari slammed Anshuman Mishra for his comments against senior party leaders, the NRI businessman on Monday apologised to the party.
Speaking to a television channel from London, Mishra said, “I landed in London today and discussed the issue with my family and friends and decided to apologise to the party.” “I was ideologically attached to the party, may be it was my reading that I have done significantly for the party, but the party thinks otherwise so I decided to apologise.”
“Let them resolve their own issues,” Mishra further said. Mishra, who was dropped soon after being backed for a Rajya Sabha seat from Jharkhand, alleged that party leader Murli Manohar Joshi, who heads the PAC looking into the 2G scam, and a "female friend" of his had asked him to arrange meetings with companies who allegedly benefited from the 2G scam.
Mishra, according to sources, was backed by Gadkari, but dropped after widespread protest in the party as senior party leader SS Ahluwalia was dropped to accommodate him from Jharkhand seat.
However, Gadkari dismissed "as baseless and misleading all the allegations levelled by NRI businessman Anshuman Mishra against senior BJP leaders".
On Sunday, BJP president urged the party rank and file to "ignore Anshuman Mishra`s deliberate attempt to create confusion by spreading falsehood".
