She lifted 192kg in all, including a CWG record in snatch (84kg), to bring glory to the country. Later, boxer Naman Tanwar stormed into the 91kg quarterfinals after dismissing Tanzanian boxer Haruna Mhando. The Indian women's hockey team also returned to winning ways with a 4-1 win over Malaysia in Pool A. And then 18-year-old Deepak Lather got India's fourth medal, a bronze in the 69kg weightlifting category. Another Indian boxer, Amit Kumar also advanced to the quarterfinals in the 46-49kg category. The Indian contingent began its 2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG) campaign on a golden note on Thursday with one gold and one silver. World Champion Mirabai Chanu (48kg) broke the CWG record in snatch, clean and jerk as well as overall to finish on top of the podium. But the opening medal of the Games for India came from Gururaja Poojary who clinched a silver medal in the men's 56kg event.  Here is the entire Indian schedule on Day 2.
