Srinagar: With the night temperatures dipping to minus four degrees Celsius, Friday was the coldest day of the season so far in summer capital Srinagar.

"The minimum temperature fell to minus 3.8 degrees Celsius in Srinagar today, making Friday the coldest day of the season so far here," an official of the local meteorological office told reporters. "The dry, cold weather conditions are likely to continue for another two to three days after which we are expecting some relief from the present cold wave in the Valley," he said.
The minimum temperature was minus 4.2 degrees in south Kashmir Pahalgam hill station while it was minus 7.8 degrees in north Kashmir Gulmarg ski resort.
"Leh in the Ladakh region was the coldest town in the state at minus 13.0 degrees today," the official said.
People again complained of frozen water taps Friday morning and at many places they were seen lighting small fires around the taps to de-freeze them, especially in the city suburbs. Fog kills 11 in UP
Eleven people were today killed in road accidents caused due to fog in Uttar Pradesh, which continued to reel under cold wave conditions.
Five people died in Barabanki, four in Pratapgarh and two in Farrukhabad in road mishap following poor visibility due to heavy fog, officials said.
According to MET office, cold wave conditions prevailed in west and east UP and temperature fell appreciably in Terai and eastern region.
Muzaffarnagar was the coldest place with 2.3 degree Celsius.
Churu coldest in Rajasthan
Churu with minimum 1.4 degree Celsius today continued to remain the coldest place in Rajasthan.
Elsewhere, Sriganganagar recorded a low of 3.4 deg C, followed by Vanasthali 4.9 deg C and Bikaner 5.1 deg C.
The state capital Jaipur recorded minimum 7.4 deg C, Met department officials said.
Cold wave conditions sweep in Haryana, Punjab
Cold wave conditions swept Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today with minimum temperatures being up to five degree Celsius below normal.
The lowest minimum temperature of 1.3?C was recorded at Adampur (Punjab) in the plains.
After Adampur, Ambala in Haryana and Amritsar in Punjab were the coldest places in the region with 2.4 degrees Celsius and 2.6 degrees Celsius respectively, which were five degrees Celsius and one degree Celsius below normal.
Chandigarh had a low of 5.2 degree Celsius, which was two degrees Celsius below normal, a met office spokesman said.
The met office said cold wave conditions prevailed in the region. The stations where minimum temperatures have been recorded as 4?C or less include Adampur, Bhiwani, Rohtak and Narnaul.
Ground frost would occur at one or two places in Punjab and Haryana during next 48 hours.
