New Delhi: In a significant step towards e-governance, the the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Friday sanctioned its first building plan applied online.
With this, the MCD has become the the first local body in the country to introduce the system of approving building plans online, MCD Commissioner K S Mehra said. Launched on November 1, the online scheme has become operational with a building in Vasant Vihar being the first to be sanctioned, he said, adding the facility would soon be extended to the zonal offices.
The scheme was so far restricted to fresh proposals in respect to properties measuring 400 square yards and above.
Additional Commissioner (Engineering), Manish Gupta said the unique software scrutinises the drawings as per the building laws included in the Master Plan-2021. "From December 1 onwards, the facility will be extended to two zonal offices in south Delhi and Rohini and from January 1 to other zones," he said.
