Hyderabad: YS Vijaya Lakshmi, widow of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was Thursday unanimously elected as the leader of YSR Congress Legislature Party.
The legislators of Yuvajana Sramika Rytu Congress Party (YSRCP) met here today and elected Pulivendula MLA Vijaya Lakshmi, mother of Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy and honorary president of the party, as their leader. The strength of YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh Assembly rose to 17 following the victory of 15 party candidates in the recently concluded bypolls held for 18 Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat. Earlier, the party had two MLAs including Vijaya Lakshmi.
