No Notts County takeover bid by Yankees, says report
Major League Baseball`s New York Yankees are not involved in takeover talks for English League Two side Notts County, ESPN reported on Monday.
State of New York: Major League Baseball`s New York Yankees are not involved in takeover talks for English League Two side Notts County, ESPN reported on Monday.
The report, citing an unnamed club source, told ESPN a report of club interest was "not true" and cited the team`s current relationship with English Premier League side Manchester City as co-owners of Major League Soccer`s New York City FC.
The source said an investor in the Yankees ownership group, Yankee Global Enterprises, could be involved in trying to purchase the world`s oldest football club, founded in 1862.
A later report said talks were under way between Notts and Joseph Molloy, a former managing partner of the Yankees for a year while former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner was serving a suspension.
