New Delhi: A severe accident involving a moving bus and a lorry took place in Morocco on Friday killing 31 people. The accident was a result of a head-on collision between the bus and lorry and reports suggest that , many of them who lost their lives were young athletes.

Nine people are said to have been injured.


The bus caught fire after the crash near the southern city of Tan-Tan, officials stated.


The bus was heading from the capital Rabat to Laayoune in Western Sahara.


According to reports road accidents have been on the rise in Morocco since car ownership nearly doubled in the last 15 years.


This was the second accident in successive months after a freak helicopter crash in Argentina killed two French Olympians. The crash had taken place in March.
