Police said they arrested Dr Shivaji Sanap, who ran a private maternity clinic on Jalna road here, for allegedly conducting the abortion of a 17-year-old unmarried girl here recently.
Following the termination of pregnancy, the girl and her parents allegedly hid the six-month-old female foetus at their home in Kakad-hira village. A team of police officials searched their home yesterday and recovered the foetus wrapped in a cloth from there. A case has been lodged against the minor girl and her father Abhiman Jaybhay and his wife Sunita, police said.
Meanwhile, police arrested two women - Mangal Masu Dhighe (29) and Manisha Vilas Javle (28) last night after two foetuses were found dumped in a dry basin of Bindusara river in Beed city. Police suspect the two women to have dumped their foetuses in the basin after undergoing abortion.
As per the postmortem report, one foetus is of eight months and six days and the other of five months and eight days, both indicating drug-induced delivery (abortion), police said.
