New Delhi: The recent incidents across the border between India and Pakistan had pushed both teams to go extra-mile to earn the bragging rights.

It was an enthralling nail-biter as the Men in Blue secured a 3-2 win over Men in Green in the final.


Indian players not just won the tournament but one them – Birendra Lakra – also won the hearts of everyone including that of the Pakistani coach and players.


The game was in the final quarter and India were leading 3-2. Competing for the ball in India's penalty circle when the ball touched Lakra's leg, prompting the Pakistanis to appeal for a penalty corner.


The referee wasn't sure and hence Pakistan had to go for the final referral if they were confident.


Lakra, soon, went to the referee and told him that ball had indeed touched his leg.


In doing so, the Indian prevented Pakistan from wasting a referral.


The referee immediately asked the reviewer to halt the reviewal so that the game can proceed.


Post game, Pakistani coach K M Junaid personally went and gave Lakra a hug, thanking him for this honesty.


Later, each and every player of the Pakistani squad acknowledged Lakra's sportsmanship by greeting him.


India, who were crowned the champions, not just showed their skills on the field but also won the hearts of the opposite team with the spirit of the game.
