Biharsharief: Two days after police lathicharge in Nalanda, Bihar government on Friday removed the Station House Officer and five other police officials, besides 14 constables and 10 home guards posted in Noorsarai police station in the district.
"We have ordered SHO Awadhesh Kumar Singh, three sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors, 14 constables and 10 home guards to report to the police line," ADG (HQ) Rajyavardhan Sharma, tasked by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to hold an inquiry, told reporters here. "We have also ordered registration of FIR against the constable and home guard already suspended in connection with the incident", Sharma said after visiting the spot and meeting the injured at a government hospital here.
The Investigating Officer of the case has been changed and Inspector of Bihar sharief with the assistance of four sub-inspectors would probe the case, he said.
Further action would be taken after the inquiry report, Sharma said. Earlier during the day, senior RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui demanded a CBI probe into the incident as he alleged that since police used batons in the presence of senior police officials, no probe other than CBI would be fair to book the culprits.
Over 12 people, including women, were injured when police used batons to disperse a mob which indulged in stone pelting, arson and road blockade near Noorsarai police station to demand rescue of missing judicial secretary (panchayat) Reena Devi.
