According to a report published in Hindustan Times, justice RK Jain not just issued a notice to HI for a October 6 hearing but also sought an explanation as to why the order should not be stayed till the time the petition is decided in court.

A DSP in Punjab police, Gurbaj told the court that he has not been given a chance to clarify his position before the suspension was slapped.

“The kind of charges slapped against him, he could at most be suspended for some matches. There are no provisions in their (HI) rules for this kind of punishment,” Gurbaj's lawyer PS Hundal told the newspaper.
