Plea to raise monthly pension
The forum`s AGM passed a resolution on Saturday demanding the increase in pension to eminent journalists in distress to Rs 5000.
Kochi: The Senior Journalists Forum-Kerala
has urged the Kerala government to raise the monthly pension
under the contributory scheme to Rs 10,000.
The forum`s AGM here passed a resolution on Saturday
demanding the increase in pension to eminent journalists as
the journalists in distress to Rs 5000, a press release said
on Tuesday. The widows of the Distressed Journalists are now
getting a mere Rs 500, it said. This should be increased to Rs
2500.
The forum urged the Union Government to fix the minimum EPF pension amount at Rs 5000 and allow free rail travel for the senior journalists. Forum Vice President, PA Alexander, presided over the meeting and Patron KM Roy and General Secretary, KS Mohiyudheen spoke.
KM Roy has been re-elected as the Patron of the forum. Other office bearers are: PA Alexander (President), A Madhavan (General Secretary), Vargehse Koyppillil and MT Udaykumar (Vice Presidents) and KP Kunhimoosa (Secretary). PTI
