Team Anna misleading country: Digvijay Singh
Interacting with the media here, Singh questioned Hazare as to why he was denying his association with the RSS.
Guwahati: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has said that veteran social activist Anna Hazare and his team are misleading the country over their association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Interacting with the media here, Singh questioned Hazare as to why he was denying his association with the RSS.
"Why is Anna hesitant on accepting this fact? But he is saying that he neither has any knowledge nor knows anyone of them, which is not right. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat himself had said that the RSS has supported Anna`s campaign and helped in its arrangement. Spokesperson of RSS Bhaiyyuji Maharaj, he has also repeated this statement then why Anna`s is team misleading the country," said Singh.
He lashed out at Hazare saying that the veteran crusader only sees a problem with the Congress party ruled states.
"He sees corruption only in the states ruled by Congress party. He never for once mentioned the corruption prevalent in the government of BS Yeddyurappa nor did he talk about the Reddy brothers," said Singh.
Singh further gave the example of BJP ruled Gujarat to support his statement.
"On one side they were agitating for bringing in a strong anti-corruption law by the federal government. In Gujarat since the past nine to ten years the post of the Lokayukta) is vacant and the state government was not making any appointments; and Anna praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the other hand. We are saddened by this double standard of Anna," said Singh.
