Kamalpreet breaks own hammer throw national record
Kamalpreet Singh has improved upon his hammer throw national record with an effort of 72.86m while finishing third at the Tuscon Elite Classic in Arizona, United States on Friday.
New Delhi: Kamalpreet Singh has improved upon his hammer throw national record with an effort of 72.86m while finishing third at the Tuscon Elite Classic in Arizona, United States on Friday.
Kamalpreet, representing as an unattached athlete, came up with his best throw in his first of the six attempts at the University of Arizona at Tuscon.
Kamalpreet's effort was the third best this season so far among Asian hammer throwers. He, however, could not find a place in the Indian team for the June 3-7 Asian Athletics Championships in Wuhan, China.
This was the second time in two months that Kamalpreet had improved upon his national record.
The 27-year-old Punjab thrower had registered 70.37m at the same venue in May last year, which was the national record till he threw 70.38m at an invitational event at Sacramento State Open in United States in March.
