British cycling`s golden couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott were expected to tie the nuptial knot after the 2016 Rio Olympics, and it happened yesterday in a private ceremony.

Kenny, 28, confirmed that he and Trott are now hunband and wife with a tweet on Sunday which said: "Good morning Mrs Kenny."

It showed a photograph of a smiling Trott huddled up in bed with the couple`s dogs, Sprolo and Pringle, at her feet.

Trott, 24, and Kenny both enjoyed more Olympic success at this year`s Rio Games.

Trott won two golds to become Britain`s most successful female Olympian while Kenny`s three golds took his overall tally to six following previous successes in Beijing and London.

Trott`s delighted father also wrote on Sunday: "So pleased to announce that my darling daughter @LauraTrott31 married @JasonKenny107 yesterday (Saturday). Thank you to everyone. A wonderful day."

Trott is a four-time Olympic champion after retaining the team pursuit and women`s omnium titles in Rio that she won at London 2012.

Kenny now has seven Olympic track sprint medals, six of which are gold.
