Bhadohi: Scheduled Castes panel chairperson P L Punia on Friday said it was wrong to ink the recent incidents of violence with SP as the party has not formed the government yet. "SP has not yet formed its government and it is wrong to ink it with the incidents of violence in some parts of the state," Punia said. BSP government is still in power in Uttar Pradesh, he said. Punia, however, said that going by its past record, SP would always face a challenge on the law and order front.
Punia, who was here in connection with yesterday`s arson in Makdoompur area rejected reports that Beni Prasad Verma had termed him an "SP man" and stressed that he would remove doubt, if any, in the mind of Verma on this count.
Punia expressed surprise that the Makdoompur incident in which some house were looted and burnt while some people were also beaten up was presented in the media as aimed at Dalits which was far from truth. He directed the officials to inquire into the matter and submit its report to him.
