Saina Nehwal: Want my training schedule to be a secret till Olympics
Despite beginning 2015 strongly, injury problems prevented Saina from playing her best game towards the end of the year.
New Delhi: India's badminton superstar Saina Nehwal on Saturday said she wanted to keep her training schedule a complete secret ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
“I want my training schedule to be a secret till the Olympics but I’m working one-on-one,” she told the Hindustan Times in an interview.
Having won the bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012, Saina is expected to improve upon that performance this year.
Despite beginning 2015 strongly, injury problems prevented Saina from playing her best game towards the end of the year.
According to Hyderabad girl, working one-on-one with coach Vimal Kumar has helped improve her game.
“Gopi Sir and Vimal Sir are both hardworking. The only thing that is good for me now is Vimal Sir takes care of only me. He’s able to give me the extra time, the extra thing which I require. To be on top of the world, you need to have something good for your game to be better than others. You can’t train with 10-20 of them and get the same quality. That’s what I’m doing with him,” she said.
Saina is currently playing in the Premier Badminton League where she represents the Awadhe Warriors.
