UK Phone-hacking probe: Cameron to give evidence
Cameron and his deputy Nick Clegg are among the top members of the Conservative-Lib Dem government who will face the inquiry into the media ethics next week.
Cameron and his deputy Nick Clegg are among the top members of the Conservative-Lib Dem government who will face the inquiry into the media ethics next week.
Those giving evidence about the relationship between journalists and politicians will include Chancellor George Osborrne and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The inquiry last week heard evidence from other members of the Cameron Cabinet, such as Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Business Secretary Vince Cable.
On Thursday, Cameron will be the only witness, the Inquiry announced today.
Labour leader Ed Miliband, former Prime Minister Sir John Major and Deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman will give evidence on Tuesday, while Scotland`s First Minister Alex Salmond will give evidence on Wednesday.
Cameron is expected to be questioned about the support extended by media baron Rupert Murdoch to the Conservative party before the 2010 general election.
Questions are also likely on his support to Jeremy Hunt in view of evidence of proximity between the latter`s office and Murdoch`s top lobbyists during the bid to take over BSkyB.
