Amravati, Dec 13: Women's Kabaddi will make its debut as a medal event in the 2010 Asian Games in China, Janardan Singh Gehlot, President, Asian Amateur Kabbadi Association announced here. Gehlot, who is also the president of International Kabaddi Federation and Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, said that men's Kabaddi was introduced in 1990 at Beijing Asiam Games and India has been winning gold medal in this event since then. Now, the women's Kabaddi too will be a medal event at the 2010 Asian Games, he said.
"India stands stand a chance to win one more gold medal," Gehlot said while speaking at the inaugural function of the 55th Senior National (men/women) Kabaddi Championship at Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal courts here yesterday.
Gehlot also announced the organisation of the first world championship of beach Kabaddi in 2008 at Java and Indonesia.
He also released 'Rules of Kabaddi,' a book printed and published by AKFI for referees, umpires, coaches, organisers and players. The book gives complete information about AKFI rules and regulations, rules of beach Kabaddi, rules of circle style Kabaddi, AKFI national professional Kabaddi league and rules of indoor Kabaddi and club games.
