BMWs for Rio Olympics Champions: Did you know Sachin Tendulkar did not pay for the cars?

New Delhi: Rio Olympics PV Sindhu, Dipa Karmakar, Sakshi Malik and badminton coach Pullela Gopichand were honoured with BMWs by Sachin Tendulkar recently in a felicitation ceremony in Hyderabad.

Sachin had earlier given a BMW to Saina Nehwal as well after the shuttler had won India a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar handed over the keys to the Rio stars but these expensive cars were actually bought by businessman V. Chamundeshwarnath, who is the President of the Hyderabad Badminton Association.

Chamundeshwarnath, who is also a former cricketer and Tendulkar' close friend, had presented these cars on 13 previous occasions as well to outstanding sportspersons.

Speaking to the Hindu, Tendulkar had said,"Chamundeshwarnath was also instrumental in presenting cars on 13 previous occasions to outstanding sportspersons.”
