WATCH: BRILLIANT! This airline`s touching gesture on Dipa Karmakar`s arrival in Agartala

New Delhi: Star Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar was on Monday given a rousing welcome on her return home.

Thousands of people gathered at the Swami Vivekananda stadium waving the tricolour and burst crackers to cheer Dipa, the first Indian woman gymnast to compete in Olympics and the first to do so in 52 years.

Dipa apologized to the people for her failure to bring home an Olympic medal but promised to do so the next time.

After the 23-year-old disembark from the aircraft at the Agartala airport, the IndiGo staff gave Dipa a lovely surprise.
