New Delhi: The government day said delays in the release of funds under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) are usually because district authorities don`t furnish the required documents well in time.
"Non-receipt of required documents from the district authorities in time results in a delay in the release of Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds," Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Kumar Jena said in written reply to the Lok Sabha. Parliament was also informed that installments of MPLAD funds for the year 2011-12 are yet to be released to 196 nodal districts of 245 Lok Sabha MPs and 86 nodal districts of 123 Rajya Sabha MPs.
