Indo-Bangla trade through Akhaura LCS resumes
The EIAT had called the strike demanding better infrastructure facilities especially the dumping ground at the Akhaura LCS.
Agartala: The six-day old strike by the Exporters-Importers Association of Tripura (EIAT) which had hit border trade between Indian and Bangladesh at the Akhaura
Land Custom Station (LCS) in Tripura was called off on Thursday.
The EIAT called of the strike after talks with government officials.
General secretary of EIAT, Habul Biswas said, the discussion between the government officials and the representatives of EIAT was cordial and the government has agreed to solve the problems of unloading of goods coming from the neighbouring country. Official sources said, the trade has resumed from this morning and the trucks loaded with Bangladeshi goods started entering into the LCS.

During to the strike, trade between India and Bangladesh through the Akhaura LCS had come to a halt and the Central government reportedly lost at least Rs 10 lakh excise duty on each day of strike, sources said.
