Kadapa (AP): Rayalaseema Joint Action Committee on Friday urged the State as well as the Centre to resolve the long-pending issues in the drought-prone Rayalaseema region on priority. Leaders, cutting across party lines, who met at Kadapa today, decided to hold a meeting with all MLAs, MPs and former public representatives on October 10 to decide the future course of action to press for the demands.
The leaders alleged that the Rayalaseema region has been left neglected in the past by the rulers. They further alleged that those, who fought for the state of Andhra Pradesh, have cheated the people of this region and not did not keep their promises including the `Sribhag Pact`, water allocation, among others.
They demanded allocation of assured water to the region and also urged people to complete the ongoing irrigation projects on war-footing.
They urged the public representatives to participate in the meting on October 10, to decide the future course of action for this neglected region and to save the rights of the people. JAC district chairman Chandrasekhar Reddy presided over the meeting.
Rayachoty MLA G Srikanth reddy, former ZP vice chairman, congress (PRP) leader Hariprasad, TDP leaders Govardhan and others have participated in the meeting.
