Jammu: A panel of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has suggested that the state government should make one year tenure at far-off government degree colleges mandatory for all lecturers in the state.

The suggestion was given by the Assurance Committee (AC) of the Legislative Assembly, which met under the chairmanship of MLA Nazir Ahmad Gurezi. The Committee also suggested framing a comprehensive transfer policy to ensure adequate staff at all higher education institutions.
It was also suggested that a one year tenure at far off degree colleges shall be made mandatory for all lecturers The meeting was informed that more than 500 posts under different categories are presently vacant in the department. It was informed that re-organization of the department is also in the pipeline. PTI
