Bopanna-Mergea face Bryan brothers in opener
Bopanna and Mergea were the eighth and last pair to qualify for the $7 million indoor hard court tournament.
London: Indo-Romanian tennis combine of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea, who will make their team debut at the prestigious ATP World Tour Finals, will open their campaign against American top seeds and defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan on Sunday.
Bopanna and Florin Mergea were the eighth and last pair to qualify for the $7 million indoor hard court tournament, to be played at The O2 Arena. Only the top-8 men's players/pairs qualify to play the year-ending event.
Apart from the Bryan brothers and Bopanna/Mergea, John Peers/Jamie Murray and Simone Bolelli/Fabio Fognini are also in Group Ashe-Smith while Pierre-Hugues Herbert/Nicolas Mahut, Ivan Dodig/Marcelo Melo, Marcin Matkowski/Nenad Zimonjic, Jean-Julien Rojer/Horia Tecau have been clubbed in Group Fleming/McEnroe.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
The event will culminate on November 22.
